BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The project was commissioned by the C.O.F.S. (Special Operations Command) led by Major General Marco Bertolini. The desire was to have a combat knife that is the modernized version of the “Pugnale da assaltatore mod. 1939”. The exact origin of the knife is not accurately known. However it was World War I that places the mod. 1939 in Italian hands. From there it underwent some improvements to create the M1939 paratrooper version adopted by the Italian Assault Airborne Units. This project though, was already suggested by most of the steel collectors as well.
The knife, though maintaining the silhouette, shape and size of the original period knife, it’s a modernized mil-specs reproduction subsequently issued to the C.O.F.S. units as the de facto combat knife. The blade is a dagger-like design and the edge is a very sharp flat grind.
The C.O.F.S. special edition comes with a very attractive lacquered wooden case bearing the C.O.F.S. distinctive unit insignia and motto. The knife comes with satin finish blade and a wooden handle. It comes with the parade sheath. The Special edition is an unrestricted numbered edition.
